Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care PPEC
ChildrenFirst’s PPEC locations are award-winning medical daycare centers dedicated to the best care of medically fragile infants and children.
The PPEC centers are specifically designed to optimize the development of each child’s independence while helping them reach their full potential. Daily care at their center involves clinical interventions, therapy services, and educational activities.
Along with you and your child’s physician, they determine your child’s specific nursing and therapeutic goals. You’ll receive a daily note describing:
- What clinical interventions were done
- What therapies (physical therapy PT, occupational therapy OT, and speech and language therapy ST or SLP) were received
- Which developmental and educational activities occurred
- Quarterly, or as often as needed, a personal conference is scheduled to thoroughly discuss your child’s progress toward all established goals.
ChildrenFirst PPEC centers are open Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. ChildrenFirst welcomes all children from newborn to age 21, and their uniquely designed physical environments promote developmentally appropriate activities for each age group and meet individual needs.
The staff of qualified professionals includes experienced RNs, LPNs, Physical Therapists (PT), Speech Therapists (ST or SLP), Occupational Therapists (OT), and certified preschool teachers. Medically fragile infants and children receive a wide range of physician-prescribed clinical interventions, including Apnea monitoring, oxygen administration, tracheostomy care, ventilator management, g-tube feedings, nutritional management, formula, and medication administration.
